Earlier Enviro-Girl has posted her meh reaction to Clorox GreenWorks products. She has swooned over the aromatherapeutic powers of Mrs. Meyers Clean Day, but has found those products increasingly difficult to find (dishsoap & laundry detergent, check, all purpose cleaner, nowhere to be found). In desperation, she turned to her favorite organic/local/environmentally friendly store and studied the shelves for a new product to try.
The heavens opened, a ray of light illuminated a bottle and harp music filled the air: ECOVER!
Sure, the logo looked a little modern, corporate and intimidating next to the folksy appeal of Mrs. Meyers, but Enviro-Girl read the bottle. “Ecover has dedicated over 20 years of research to the development of products which use the inherent power of natural plant and mineral ingredients to bring you effective, safe cleaning…Ecover’s ecological factory is built using a grass roof for insulation, wood beams from a sustainable forest and bricks made from coal mine waste.” First produced in Belgium, Ecover is a nationally recognized brand of cleaning products, selling everything from toilet cleaner to dishwasher soap to laundry stain remover. Enviro-Girl decided to give Ecover a try.
1. Ecover’s all purpose cleaner smells lemony fresh, without the chemical overtones of Mr. Clean.
2. Ecover leaves NO residue behind, making things look and feel clean–even sink faucets shone and sparkled under its magic.
3. Ecover comes with a cap for measuring–1 capful in a sink full of warm water cleans a whole bathroom or a house full of floors. The suds are statisfying and Enviro-Girl uses less product when a measuring cap is involved. She free-pours her cleaning solutions as heavily as she poured drinks as a bartender.
4. Ecover can be used on wood and painted surfaces, unlike Green Works or Mrs. Meyers Clean Day all purpose cleaners. Since her tile floors butt up against wood floors, Enviro-Girl likes this feature.
5. Bottle, label and cap can all be recycled.
6. Ecover offers online coupons and a online list of vendors for customers–and Enviro-Girl didn’t flinch at the price, only $4.00 for a bottle that will last her over a month and clean every surface in her house. They also fully disclose their ingredients.
7. Everyone loves Ecover in Europe, even PETA (known for their picky-picky, high-falutin’ standards).
8. Did she mention Ecover made her countertops and floors REALLY clean?
Truly, an all purpose cleaner sent from heaven. Enviro-Girl gives Ecover all thumbs up.

This is good to know. I’ll pick up some the next time I need new supplies.
I fawn over an equally as good and affordable Australian product called Earth’s Choice. I’m fortunate in that because we’re such a green country it’s widely distributed and the entire line is readily available at any number of local grocery stores. YAY!
