What’s New for 2010

Think of the beginning of a new year and of a new decade, and you pet lovers out there are probably wondering what’s new in the world for your pets.  Eco Lassie has been on the hunt and found a few goodies to share with you.

Top Tag Pet ID is the newest in pet identity systems.  A waterproof case holds a 64 mg USB flash drive.  Seven main categories  cover fourteen subjects to contain information on your pet besides the normal name, address and phone number.  You can list your pet’s vet, his meds or even her behavior.  List commands he’s used to, or treats that catch her eye.   Available on multiple sites for approx. $30.

On an even higher end of the price point ($60) Great Companions carries the Outdoor Heated Kitty Camper.  Doesn’t your kitty deserve one of these, with two doors, protection from the cold if you take her with you on trips or have to leave her outside?  14″ X 20″, plugs in to any outlet.

Or consider the Fun Tunnel, in faux fur and lined with crunchy material to entice your cat to play.  With two peepholes and a dangling removable ball, the tunnel has a spring frame which folds flat to store.  Around $32 at multiple sites.

And for the dog who has everything, don’t forget to look into the Pee Wee Dog Potty. Running between $70-90 (gulp) this device is for mini and small pooches.  It’s a self-contained waste drainage system with three sides and a walk-in fourth wall.  The advertising says it’s worth it for when you have to leave your pet home and can’t get him outside.  With replaceable grass and a removable bottom for washing.  At least your mess is contained.

I kid you not.

At the other end of the spectrum, and for our bird loving friends, there’s always the Snuggle Hut.  For a mere $6 at multiple sites, your pet parakeet can have his own personal tent-like shelter to sleep in and hid in.  Snuggle huts come in different colors and a range of sizes and are sturdy, using hooks to attach to the side of your bird’s cage.
