From the Skids

We all have some old stuff sitting around that we could use to make something new and cool. All it takes is thinking outside the . . . norm.

Well the Green Queen’s hubby saw some pallets sitting on the side of the road just waiting to be thrown out. We hate seeing materials bound for the landfill.

Those pallets and emotions put the wheels in motion inside our minds. We decided we couldn’t let that wood go to waste. We stopped and picked it up and brought it home. Then with a little creative input from a friend, we were able to see the reinvention of a pallet (also known as a skid)… into some real garden furniture.

Everyone wants to relax on a chaise lounge . . . right?

So, why not use some materials that have been thrown away and turn them into something funtabulous?

Simply fit the pieces together then lay a couple flowers or other objects on the wood and spray paint away. The object will leave an imprint on the wood and create a pretty pattern. Then simply add a few pillows and/or cushions, and you will have a perfect place to recline and enjoy some sunshine–if you can count on having a little sun (here in the Pacific Northwest that’s another problem entirely).

  1. If you google “pallet garden” or “pallet vertical garden” you might find an interesting pallet project. Sorry I don’t have the link.
